She demanded possession of her children. Stroud .refused to give them \ up. A quarrel ensued, when both shot each other. The woman says Stroud shot first Mrs. Ward fled after the first exchange of shot?. Stroud, it is sold pursued her and fired at iher with a shotgun. The shot took effect in | her face.and bosom. Neither Mrs. Ward nor Stroud is i dangerously wounded. I Hotel In Opelika Burned. Opelikn, Ala.. Oct. 2i>.?The Cooper hotel was burned Monday morning, entailing a loss of $25,000, with i?li. .000 insurance. The flames originated in the kitchen and nothing was lott except th walls. It was owned by Mrs. B. Y. Cooper and B. A. and J.. M. Cooper, and was built of pressed brick and granite, three stories hiThe guests of the .hotel had narrow escapes, saving only their hand baggage.
