Look hart Junction, Oct. 12.?The

| TILLMAN ACQUITTED.
The Jury Came Out at n O'clock
a. m. on Thursday With a Verdict
of Acquittal.
After thirteen days of actual trial,
which does not include the four days
of recess, this case was submitted to
the jury on Wednesday, 14th inst.,
at 1:42 o'clock p. m.
Mr. Croft of council for defence,
appealed largely to the political predilections
of the jury, and Mr. Bellinger
of council for the prosecation,
appealed to them to regard solely
the proven facts of the tragedy.
Judge Gary's clear and comprehensive
charge, defining homicide and
murder, and showing what the defendant
must prove to establish a
case of self-dofense, is approved by
council on both sides.

The Middlcton Stock Company,
This company has been playing in
Union all of this week to fairly good
audiences. This is a flrat class troupe
in every respect. They have neat
and pretty costumes, and each member
of the company handles his or
her part to perfection. The specialties
between aots are very good.
This company is worthy of the patronage
of all theatre-goers, as all
of their plays aro clean and suitable
to the taste of the most fastidious.
You certainly miss a treat when you
fall to see the Middlcton Stock Co.
Manager Smith is to be congratulated
for securiug this compauy for
the people of Union. We hope they
will make a return date to Union.

Cooler weather is here and is sill
coming. But it waited long enough for
the bolls on the belated cotton to get ripe
and people to get their fodder saved.
Many were afraid that they would not
get their fodder, but God knows all
things and we should trust in Him.

I was over at Loskhart Junction a few

some of the people down tliere, as a
great many of the children and some
of the young ladies pointed at him with
