Madieon, Ga., Sopt. 15.?A double

j but they were separated without do

1 That night at a dance on the same
' plantation the dispute was renewed
1 and resulted in Welch shooting Boswell,
killing him instantly. ,
Welch immediately fled and came
1 Into Morgan county to his father's
i house. A warrant was issued for his ,
' arrest by the maglHtrato of Godfrey
' dlstrle*. and tho l)a1liff of the district,
with several deputies, appointed to
assist him, proceeded to the old
i Welch's home to arrest the criminal.
i The house was surrounded and ths
3 raurdorer was told to come forth. His
1 father came to the door and told them
that the boy was upstairs and that ha
~ would get him to come down. A few
/ moments after, tho report of a gun. was
; heard in tho upper chamber and when
I the boy's father got to the room he
found his son lying in a pool of blood
with half of his head shot away and
his brains scattered all over the room.
The father seized the gun, whirl
was lying by the side of the dead
" man and threw It out of the window.
One barrel of the gun was loaded
and as It struck the ground the load
was discharged, the contents of which
came very near striking one of the
posse, who was standing close by. 1
The negro boy had taken hla own
life rather than be arrested.
