Contractor H. M. Bell of Spartanbuig
has completed the work of dividing and
moving the Young residence, and has
returned home. Mr. Bell is thoroughly
up to this kind of work and can safely
be entrusted with the m ?t difficult undertakings.
He will probably find several
other jobs awaiting him in Union a
month later.

Mr. E. M. Anderson was called to
Sumter Tuesday by a telegram which 1
informed him that his father was 1
seriously ill. While on the way to
Sumter he received another telegram
which stated that his father was dead.
The elder Mr. Anderson visited his
sen here last summer, and made !
many warm friends among the people
of Union. He was a genial and
warm hearted Christian gentleman,
a man that grew old gracefoll; ; he
was one of the kind for whom we
grieve when he passed from the earth.,'

The relief committee for the flood
sufferers expended five or six thousand
lollars, and have left on hand something
like eighteen thousand dollars that is not
needed. The Columbia State suggests
that the sum be divided among the farmers
along the track of the flood. Thi& is
a good suggestion, and will be giving
help to some of the severest sufferers, in
a financial way, that the flood reached.
