Davis Jeffries, Miss Minnie Gist and
Mrs. N. M. hinder as teacliers. It wil
be seen by referring to the list given
above that three of these original four
are still on the roll of teachers. Prof
Waller resigned to pursue further stud
its iu Vanderbilt University and afterwards
accepted a chair in Clemson College.
This position he resigns to take
the Chair of Chemistry in Wofford col
lege. There is a permanency about oar
graded schools that is much to be admired.
A teacher usually comes to
stay. If it were not that one feared to
say it lest s uue of ths ladies should g?i
oiTendtd, it Cmid be said that a teacher
m?y stay long enough to grow old. Thiis
as it should bo Constant change in
the teaching foice would lead to unfavorable
results. Experienc is gained
with ser\i:e and it is well to get the results
of the experience. Our trustee*
are to be commended for their disposition
to go slow in miking chauges.
The two hundred and three pupils of
eight years ago have increased to four
hundred and se ;enty-.two in the central
school. This sho ws that there has been
a large growth even when we leave out
of the count the new schools at the other
points in the city.
Prof. Jeffries says that ho looks for
the enrollment to reach sixteen Lundral

Too Great A Risk.
In almost everj' neighborhood someone
has died from an attack of colio or
cholera morbus, often bofore mwdioieno
could he procured or a physician summoned.
A reliable remedy for these
diseases should be kept at hand. The
risk is too great for anyone to take.
Chanberlain's Colic. Clidlera and
Diarrhoea Remedy has undoubtedly
saved the lives of moro people and relieved
more pain and suilenngthan ary
other medicine in uso. It can always
be depended upon. Sold by, F. C Duke.
