don't know whether that's right or not.)

leunion of the Sponsors with the Couederate
Veterans annex takes place at
^ew Orleans on the 10th 22nd of May
text. The Southern has already anlouncd
reduced rates. What a pity it is
hat those two reunions could not meet
it different times so that the veterara
vould have a better show. We did net
mjoy their sponsorship in the stormj
lays of '61-'65 and 1 don't see why we
reed them yet. I hope the day will
?me soon that we can hays a reunion
frithout any sponsors. By all means the
vomen that were wives and sweethearts
o the old soldiers could be included unler

vould go as sponsors it would be vei y
appropriate, but for a set of old Confederate
soldiers to meet a giggling tlock of

I know some years ago that the State
Reunion met at Chester and there was a
great many solicitations for voluntary
sontributions to entertain the worn out
soldiers and much money was raised. A
nail was rented and furnished at great
expense as a dancing hall. Now the old
rets could not dance. I reckon that
is where the sponsor were useful.
Now Homo expects to go, or at least
hs's got it set down in his almanac as a
probability that he will go, and if Mrs,
Homo could go as his sponsor it would
insure good order throughout on his pait
but he is not sure the commands ol
those sponsors would have the same convincing
effect on him as hsrs. Yes 1
wonder, I like to have forgotten, 1
reckon this old vet needs a sponsor, but

dinauce against shooting air guns on the I
streets. But it seems the boys have for- v
gotten about it and there is considerable ?
complaint being raised about the prac- \
tice as some of the boys are not at all ?

Second quarterly meeting was held at
New Hope church last Saturday, 28th
inst., with J. W. Kilgo, Presiding Elder,
in the chair.
Mr. J. A. Chapn gu has moved to this
place and la hauling some fine poplar
logs or stocks to this place to be shipped
to Germany.
Mr. G. O. Allen, of Greenville, S. C.,
who has sent to his place near here several
head of cattle to be fed and fattened by
Mr. Clem Garner, is now selling and
shipping some of them to otter markets.
Mr. N. C. Holtina returned from
Spartanburg, S. C., last week where be
has been visiting his son.
