A Coon Hunt. The boys around Bogansville had an exciting coon hunt last week. Ashley Kelley, Jack McKissick, John Little, Boyd Leo and others with about 18 hounds went on a coon hunt twice last week on tho Forest, near Gist's bridge. They soon got a coon i started on both occasions and after ' exciting races they were captured. I One of the coons took a tree then jumpped into deep water, the boys went in pell mell with the dogs after him, and after a fierce battle secured the coon, boys, dogs and coon had to swim. The hounds kept up such a terrible din that Capt. D. C. Gist was aroused from the land of dreams, Being'an old hunter himself he know a hot race was up and wont out in his orchard and listened to the music of the hounds until the battle was won. We were shown a front foot of one of the coons by Mr. Boyd Lee, it looked as if its owner hud been un old veteran of the forest, the foot was a large one and its claws were long and sharp. Editor Times: ?I must congratu- ' late you on the improvement of your paper. It has never seen a better day in my knowledge. Only one fault, the print is often too dim. I am glad you have the courage to take a stand against the pistol carrying habit, and I hope to see you take a stand against whiskey too. There Is no telling the good you may do the' boys of Union by strong words against the dreadful sin of drunkenness. Suscess to you. (Mrs.) R, M. Lee. Sedalia, S. C. Clarence Sexfn Goes to Sumter, Mr. Clarence D. Sexton has accepted a position with a clothing firm at Sumter, S. O., and will go at once to his new duties. He has been chief clerk in the clothing store of Mr. J. Cohen, of Union, and by his close application to his business and polite and courteous attention to customers has built himself up an enviable reputation as a clothing salesman. He is a bright young business man. We are sorry to lose him from, Union. However, we wish him much success and hope he will be a winning card for his new employer. JL'O Moxy.
