This may be true in one sense, bu 1

all the time, and there is less drinking
in proportion to the number of
people than ever before in the history
of our country. The liquor business
has fallen olf in Texas to such ar. ;
extent within the last year or so that j
some of the wholesale lipuor dealers'

to leave the State to do business.
That speaks volumes for the prohibition
sentiment.
A strong sentiment against whiskey
i9 better than all the statutes
you may enact to prohibit its saie and
use.

Would you be surprised if
Socialism should have an inllucnee
in the campaign in 1(.K)4? And by
1908 be an important factor in
American politics? In my opinion
Populism was a tacre pigmy beside
Socialsm, say within six more year*
from today. The Democratic party
is in such fearful plight from a standpoint
of unity that it should not
greatly surprise anyone if it should
disintegrate and go topicces, when
Socialism shall array itself against
Republicanism whatever that shall
mean.
The Socialists of Texas met in convention
in the city of Dallas and
nominated a full State ticket July
4th.
