while the art exhibit of the pupils hung 1
on the walls. Much of this art work j
was wrought by t he new pupils and was .
|.l?e first work from their hands for public
inspection. The work was very well .
done and did credit, to 1 he young artists
and their painstaking teachers. There *
was an elaborate music program, some
of the selections being very d'tlionlt but j
| were handled in a masterly manner. Ths

This intei eating study is taught by Miss

her own work as well as tlios of her I
pupils on exhibit. The beautiful covt r

were ttie prettiest we it iw ? <m-. The
pictures on the wails consisted of pasUlle

oil paintings and crayon work. The
violin solos by Misses Marie Clifford
and Annie 'lodger were ver\ line, while
the piano.music by Misses Ligon, Gregory,
Oelzel, Thompson, Gilbert, Greer,
McKinzie, McCullough. Williamson and
Summers were in keeping with I lie rest
of the interesting and entertaining program.
All the pupils did credit to
themselves and their teachers.
On Wednesday evening a large crowd
was present, to witness the famous drill
exercises. It was well executed and the
many ditllcult evolutions were gone
through without a break and apparently
without a loss of a single step. There
were thirty-three young ladies in the j ~
drill which began at 9 o'clock and lasted
half au hour. Some of their movement <
looked like a perfect tangle and all were
wondering how they would ever get
back to their places, but it was done with
perfect ease. The young ladies can certainly
give the liest drilled troops some
(winters in Held movement, Each young
lady wore a long red scarf over her
shoulder, and when the line came jto a
company front by a deft movement they
formed with these scaifs the words
"Welcome to you" so quickly and uuexpectly
that you could not help wondering
liow it was done. "C. F. S." was also
made with these searfs, and finally after
more drilling a front was formed and
these words sprang up in front "Good
Night." The girls were the recipients
of liberal applauses, and after loitering
about the premises and art room lor an
hour or more the crowd gradually dispersed
feeling that tliey had enjoyed a .
very pleasant evening.
, When the drill was over the girls, just
liefore entc-ing the building, gave their | e
college yell, which simply lays all the ^
