successful guessers in the Atlanta
Constitution's cotton bale contest.
Mr. Epps was one among a few thousand

Death of'jl. A. Ma y.
Mr. Henry A. May died suddenly at
his home in Union Monday nigh' about
11 o'clock from heart failure. lie was
seemingly in robust health up to the
hour of his death. He was on the street
and at his place of business Monday
evening. lie had been fishing and was
out. or) the river hank all night which
may have, to a certain extent., been rcsjKinsihle
for his death. It is sad to Ire
cut down by lire baud of death without
a moment's warning. Mr. May was 41
years of age. He leaves a wife and six
children, two brothers and two sisters, (i.
C. May, of Union; W. J. May, of Colnirlumbia;
Mrs. ltobt. Stephens, oi'Coluinbin,
anil Mrs. Jos. Lamb, of Union.
The f.iuitly are originally from I .ani ens
eoiin'y but have bien living in Union
since 1*70.
The remains were Intcrefl in the
Methodist church yard beside those of
his two children gone on before. The
funeral sei vices were conducted by ltev.
L. M. Rice of ilie FiisL Baptist church
in the piesence of many relatives ami
friends. The grave was covered with
(lowers by sympathizing friends of the
family. The Irereaved ones have the
sympathy of this continuity.
