A TRIP TO TRXAS.

rhis was a three minutes delay and we
cnew we weft going to uiiss that Atanta
connection unless something un'oressen
turned up.
As this was my first trip over this end
if the Seaboard t will mention a few of
die towns of cousequeuee.
EUreitou, Ga.\ at 7:43. It is a pretty
little jjtown of qJLiout :2,0U0 iiihabitauta
with electric lights, a town clock, many
liue residences and a number of handsome
churches and stores. The town
cite is a broad and level coiyitry and the
town is well spread out. It has two
railroads, telephone system and several

Alliens, Ga., was reached at S:20.
This is one of Georgia's important
towns and tlio first large town we
reached ou the route. We only stopped
a few minutes, but the town lias the appearance
of business activity. Several
other towns of more or less importance
were passed and our train arrived in Atlanta
at 10:lo, just too late to catch the
train for Memphis as we feaied would
be the case, not withstanding the line rut:
of 210 miles in live hours and a half.
Finding we would have a delay ol
eight hours on our hands, those of uf
who were going west decided to take in
the city. Tills we did by car line am:
here is the way to do it to get the mosl
for your money. Take cat at lVachtiei
street junction for East End, a six mile?
run for 5 cent it, where you will see a
pretty section of the cit-v and many in
dustiial enterprises. You will pass bj
Fort McPhersou and the s)!dicrs barracks
which is on t he right, four mile;
out and it. is a beautiful place. Eas
Point is flie terminus and, is a prett;
lilue town. ueturnuig 10 iuh city 10
5 cents you lake a transfer at. Peach.re
street for Decature, Ga , on the blm
car line, a very line chair car, six mile,
in t he opposite direct ion, giving you 1
miles rid * for your nicklo. Denature i
the county site of Do Calb county am
has a tniKlern court house and Severn
other nice buildings. The town is no
large on account of its close proxiinit
to Atlanta. Here is located 1 he fatnou
A guess Scott Institute for girls. It is
beautiful place, a Hue and commodiou
struct ure surrounded by extensiv
grounds, and is one of the suburban a!
tractions of Atlaula. lletutning vo
take a jeliow car or north Decntureliut
and approach the city from a dilTeren
direction getting a good view of sul
urban residences and the city from th:
side. You get another transfer to Grai
l'ark or some other line, making 12 m >i
miles for 5 cents, and thus contain
until you have got a good view of tli
city and residences on every side: Yo
can then leave the car line and stro
at youi leisure along the busiuess strcei
until you have put in your tiuic an
when you get home yon caj? -s*y yo

this part of the trip over the N. C. ?

to Memphis on my former trip to tl
Veteran's Reunion.
We reached Memphis, Tenn., atS.t
a. m. Thursday morning and boarde
the Cotton Belt tiain, one of the gre<
Western trunk lines for Dallas, Texa:
at H;2U. A 0 o'clock a. m. we crosse
the line bridge over the Mississippi li

for bridge fare.
ON THE COTTON DEI/1' LINE.
One of the lirst things that attract*
our attention when we entered the Co
ton Belt train was the different kind
seats in-their chair and parlor coach*
from what we see down east. The re>
ular day coaches are equipped with I'm
rows of handsomely upholstered reclii
ing chairs, two lows of chairs on citlu
side of the aisle. These chairs arc m ;-l
so they will fall backward at the will <
the occupant to any position that be:
suits Ins fancy, just like the bubchairs
are raised or lowered. lu fio:
of each seat attached to the scat in f'roi
of you are sliding foot reals which ca
pc pulled out whe.ii required and shove
back when not wanted. This car is in
eluded m your regular ticket, but upo
further investigation we were sti
further suifrieed to Jind that an iridic ill
ual large wicker chair in the parlor ca
was at your service for tlie whole da
for only oO cents. You can move Mi
chair around anywhere you want it I
is a pleasure to travel, thus It relieve
to a considerable extent the inoiioton
of a long joui ney.
Our run to Dallas was via TVxaikan,
'lid was 000 miles and required atweut,
hour's run to in.ike it.
1 send this in by tlie Sunday luoruinp
mail, leaving Dallas at 10 o'clock hopiuj
it will reach liopie in time for this i-uie
