Veteran's Meeting.
The Confederate Veteran* m?-t in the
otllco of Judge J. M. Greer Saturday
morning. Mr. C. S. (ireer was elected
chairman of the meeting. Mr. I). T.
Black was elected as representative from
Union townsliip o:t the County Pension
Board. According to too new act of the
legislature tit. its last session, the County
Board of Pensioners is to he formed by
a representative from each townsliip,
elected by the township veterans. The
townsliip boards have been abolished.
The 21st. of the month is set as the d ito
for meeting of the County Board.
Death of Mrs. Willard.
Mrs. David Willard died at her home
in Santuc township on Thursday night
froui smallfiox. Shu leaves a husband,
six children, one of whom isaniufani,
which has a li^ht case of smallpox. All
of the family were vaccinated except the
mother, wh ? was in a delicate state of
health, some time last yea-, and tin

successfully vacshmted escaped. 'I ho
husband, who attended to h's wife lady,
did uot c nitraut the disease, as tie had
been successfully vaccinated. This is
a convincing proof that vaccination is
a preventive. We sincsrely sympathize
with the father and little ones who have
, lost their best friend. Mrs. Willard was
a sister-in-law to Supevisor T. J. Batenbaugh.
She leaves many friends in j

In a trip to Buffalo we noticed that
the great work is going steadily forward,
and a regular army of laborers are emf
