The Greenville News and the Spartanburg
Herald are at loggerheads over the
Governor's message relating to the mill
children question. The State is defending
compulsory education for mill
children, while the News and the Herald
denounce it an absurd proposition and
tbe extreme of class legislation.
The time for paying taxes has been |

papers all over the State are jumping
on the Governor, Comptroller General '

to Sunday School, prayer meeting

the South Carolina hospital for the insane,

total number under treatment was 1,461,
while the average daily population Was

third infantry, now stationed on the

The flag is oblong, about 4 or S feet.
It has a red ground border with white
raffles and ornamented with various designs,
including a black field with five
white stars and a kries and spear (Move
weapons) in white, over whieh is a strip

The first star represents religious
knowledge; the second star prayers; the

the flag of the sultan of Sola. The
stars further represent the fire proyineSs
of the snltan. nz: Busihin. Jolo, the
Siassi group, the Tawi Tawi group and
Borneo and Palawan (Paraguay). The
red grouud of tho Dug represents the
subjects of the sultan, the Moro weapons
strength and wur, with black top border,

ground for the goodness of the Mohammedan
religion.
The flag was displayed iu the adjutant
