retard tho building of the railroad known
as the "Drew Road." lie savs work on
tho road is progressing front the Suwannee
river, i:t Lafayctto county, both

T'no northern terminus of the road
will ho Live Oak and the southern
Stephenville, on tlio Gulf of Mexico,
near Dead Man's hay. When completed
the road will be SI miles in length, and
passes through a section of tun liuest
pine and cypress timber to be found in
the state. The company constructing
the road owns largo bodies of timbered
land, and this tiiubnr will b" one of tho
main articles of freight, lie-ides Mr.
Drew savs, tho r >ad is not being built
for speculation, or as merely a temp >
rary log road, but for permanent use.
The cost of it in some parts will be $20,000
per mile.

waters and his lines were hanging

sting ray, weighing 125 pounds, came to

away and soma of his flint teeth were
broken in the scramble. The tail began
whipping tho air as soon as it cnino from
tho water and Captain Dominick threw
his hands to his face for protection.
Seizing a big knife lying in the boat he
severed the tail. This somewhat subdued
the fish and in a short time Captain
Dominick had killed the moustor.
