Cheap
Cock-Tails.
Great excitement'has been going
on in Charleston sinco the beginning
of the Custom House blind tiger business.
It developes that the parties
concerned, emptied the whiskey into
the sewer pipe, near the cistern, and
in their haste poured it in so rapidly
that enough of it backed into the
cistern to discolor the water. Tho
thirsty element are making frequent
calls on tho coolers filled from the
eastern. It is said that only a little
sweetning is necessary to make excellent
cock-tails.
A Musical Festival.
Wo have before us an attractive
and neatly gotten-up pamphlet of the
South Atlantic States Music Festival
I_sixin year) which is to be held in the I
capacious auditorium of Converse
College at Spartanburg, Ma? 2nd, to
1th, under the nuspicies of Converse
College Choral Society. The pamphlet
contains half-tono cuts of a dozen
celebrities belonging to this famous
musical aggregation. Tlio Auditorium
has a seating capacity of 2,000
and Spartanburg is anticipating and
is prepared to take care of a large
crowd of visitors. We have no
doubt Union will bo well represented
and predict a higly enjoyable occasion
for all who are fortunate enough
to be present.
