We are gla I to report that the work
of putting the electric lights in the opera
house is progi easing, and we know the
theatre goers will welcome the removal
of the unsightly foot 1 ights that at present
mar H19 appearance of the stage and
everything on it that can be soon on

Mr Anderson hopes to have the lights
in readiness for "Capt. Dick" tonight.

A Good Cow puny,
The Yeronce Company closed their
engagement hero last Saturday night,
having played five nights. It was very
unfortunate for them that the three last
nights of the week was wet aud disagreeable,
so much so that the ladie.s
couid uot come out. On Friday night
the weather was so bad that the company
abandoned the idea of giving a performance,
also the matinee for children
Saturday was taken off A farely good
audience gathered to see the last play
Saturday night, and all were well pleased.
Many said they expected to see the actors
throw off and cut the play short, as it
was the last night and the crowd small,
but they were agreeably surprised to be
treated to one of the best plays of the
week. We hope to have them come
again, and hope they will have better
weather next time. Their first liou.je

Method Coun(s.
The principal reason why com,try
merchants fail to advertise profitably
is that in their advertisements they do
not talk specifically about the article
they want to sell nor do they give
prices. They must learn tho Wanamaker
system. If the reader is at all I
interested in an article he yrwti tti
know its good points. If these are
favorable he wants to know the price.
If this is satisfactory he becomes buyer
and the advertisement has served
the seller and buyer. If no misrep.
rffientation has been made the sale of
this erticle may have created a steady
customed the profit on whose trade
may become large enough to pay for
.he advertising neo^esnry to eecnr?
one hundred more customers like
him.

Alba Iley wood Co., made its secon/l
appearance in Union last Monday night
and, although the people have had a
ghow every nlnrlit for a week, a verv anod
list of reserved seals were taken and an
average audience was out to see in Albv
Heywood one of tho finest impersonate*
that has ever b^en t*een in Union.
Hi* representation of the elderly lady
church member was superb. In ou? of
his talks he said he was not a two-'acad
man, we think he was a little off in this
statement. lie is undoubtedly n nmu
of many faces, in fact his face if* hta
fortume, backed up by ft voice over which
he hal wonderful control. The instrumental
music was snjoysd vary naueh by
all. Especially tho violin and violoncello.
Every member of tho company received
an enclioro, some of tlieni being
forced to'return tho second time.
We must sny that our popular opera ;

the wishes of tho ]>eoj?le aud is geltiug <

while the good work is going on that a n

the sides to be on a level with entrance a
door and stage, and that the chairs in t<
