A PROGRESSIVE TOWN.
A Short Sketch of the Business
Concerns of the Busy Little
Town of Jonesville,
Jonesville, S. U-, Qet. 9r?With 1
\ permission will endeavor to give
won a few dot* from our prognnsirc
little town.
We heartily approve of the scheme
Qf the Union Gil k Manufacturing |
Company to j*et th<5 pfeople of this
iohnty to plant wheat. Farmers
diversify your crops, it is your only

proves that it pays to plant little co ton.
Why plant large crops of cotton
and get five cap (a, *fien we can
pUrat ohfy half ci-op of cotton and
get Us much for as large crap?
flfcere will bo a larger amount of
wheat sowed In this secti.n this Fall
than ever before.
We have a first class roller mill
here, which turns out a purer flour
than are the flours which are shipped
in here from other States. The mill
is a blessing to she co'minunity, and
Mrps. JT. L- McWlprtcr Co. descive
much credit for it.
| suppose the yarn mill is to be
built l.ere if jumors are correct.
This will a hi much to our hustling
town.
We have two first-class ginneries
wh'ch me running on full time.
S:ill tnother paying enterprise is
the Hosiery Mill which is seeding
out its product to all parts of the
United Statcfc, and turning its money
loose among our people. Our
merchants tejl us that their
trade has |)een good al| fhe year
found, hej'ond their expectationsThey
anticipato a heavy tradt this
fall, which has already begun. Our
town is noted for its cheapness ol'
merchandise. The expense of running
a ttore is not so great as in a

larger piaee, ucuuc iuc auwujr ?-u ocu
cheaper, Jonesville boasts of as
ccod business houses as any in the*;
flinty. Among them wo name j.
L.-McWhiker k Co., who carry a j
large stock of general merchandise,
wsgons, buggies, machinery, fertili*<rs,
mules, horses, etc. They
have in connection with their mer^
pantile buaineen an up to-date gin

livery stable. They are also cotton
buyers.
Next we mention the J. J. Littlejohu
Co., who carry a large stock of
general merchandise, furniiute, wagons,
buggies, machinery, etc.
Mr. J. F. A'man, who moved here
from Kolton a fow years ago, carries
womplete line of dry goods, notions,
clothing, shoes, heavy groceries, hardware,
wagons and buggias, and in
fact almost everything found in a

Mr. W. E. Alman is building several

Cotton picking is well advanoed, in

it seems now, to hoar farmers
