Though at tho timo of his death lie was a citizen of Union, Dr. Nott was u Spartanburg boy, born and reared here, nndHieing a member of a family that lias ne8n closely identified with (!iis county for almost n century, the news cainc to nil us a sal bereavement. Dr. Nott was the second son of Dr. T. K. Xott, Sr. He was i>5J years of age and had been a practicing physician for seven years. IIo obtained a t'lorough collegiate education at Woffo.*?l College, where ho was universally po nilar. He was an especial favorite am >ng tho buys of Clii-l'hi^fratornily of which ho was a member. Following in tho footsteps of his father and his grandfather for generations baek) ho ehoso medicine as a profession, and after thorough courses in Charleston and Haltitnore, he entered upon the practice and two years ago chose Union us his home, being associated with I>r. Manning T. Smith. In the short period of two years no man ever made more or warmer friend* than I)r. Not tat Union. Aside from tho fact that he stood high in his pro. fession, which he loved with a devotion that was absorbing, lie was n gentleman in the finest and noblest sense?not for the occasion or parade hut under any and all occasions. Courteous to the lowly as well as the proud, considerate of the poor and rich alike, ho presented a most attractive personal it v, an example of all the ixianlv virtues. His seoming reserve wns rather a delicacy of feeling that would never allow him to overstep any mark of decorum. Doubtless in his high profession he mado such a member as would have delighted the mind of Oliver Wendell Holmes. Ho could not onlv administer to tlio sick but could suffer with them.
