We now have tlie pleasure of announcing
that the low rate of one first
class fare the round trip will be made by

Would Be a Good Advertisement for the State.
The Stat?* Hoard of Health la id a
meeting in the otliee of the Comptroller
(ieneral yesterday. They considered
matters of necessary expenditures for
the coining year and devised plans for
using the appropriation granted hy the
last Legislature to the best advantage.
The lmanl is not pleased much at the
action ot' the Legislature in limiting the
mimlier of copies of its rc|k>rts to :{*ki.
Dr. Evans says that there is a great demand
for the report not only in other
States but throughout Lurope, Sontli
America and in other foreign countries.
The report contains valuahle statistics
sis to mortality, vital tacts, hcaltli. climate.
temperature, etc. Already numliers
of applications have 1>een made for
them in Kurnjie and as far South as
Chili, but as the number is limited all
eautiol be accommodated. Many inquiries
for the re|mrt are probably intending
imiiiiyrrstiits as they ask purlieularl\
about the health of the Mate. ||

mistake was made in not giving the rejKirt
as widen circulation as possible.
The Hoard determined to try and enlist
the co-operation of medical associations
and other state Hoards in urging
u|m>u the national government the necessity
of pro]kmI\ draining swamps and
livers and thus remove one of the most
fearful causes of death?malarial fever.
With rivers kept properly drained
and by the use of artesian water medical
exjierts think great cause of death can
be almost ctadicatcd.
Another matter discussed by the Hoard
was as to the best means of cheek in.it the
ravages of consumption among the colored
population. The physicians speak of
the fearful mortality among them from I
this cause. It was decided to issue a
circular to all colored teachers explaining
this fact and showing that the most
fruitful cause of the spread of this disease
was the habit of e\|M'ctorat ion by
consumptives on the floors of school
buildings and elsewhere. The teachers
will Ik* warned and urged to take every
precaution possible to prevent the further
spread of the disease from this
* cause.
