"Old Man White** Dead.
Mr. W. J. White, who since the opsration
of tho Dispensary began, has
been a frequent visitor to Columbia
and who was popularly known in Dispensary
circles especially, as "Old
Man White,' died at hie home in Cincinnati
on the 24th inot. Mr. Whitewas
at ouo time agent of the Mill |
Creek Distilling Company, which sold
liquors to the Dispensary, and Mr.
White always claimed that he really en- ,
abled tho Dispensary to begin operation
by the favorable terms of credit t
his company gave the authorities. In t
the Dispensary investigation Colonel
Mixson testified that Mr. White offered c
