Section. 1. Tho judicial power of tliia ;
State shall he vested in a supreme court, In !
two circuit courts, to-wit: A court of com- j
mon pleas, having civil jurisdiction, ami a j
court <d general sessions, witu criminal

may establish county courts, iii?.iiil?*i|?ul and
.such other courts inferior to cifj.it courts as
may tdeemed necessary.
I See. -2. The supremecourt shall consist of
a chief justice and three associate justices,
i ail of whom -hall l>e present to constitute the |
i court. They shall (*> elected l>y a Joint viva
voce vote of the general assembly for the
term of eight years and shall continue in
office until their successors shall oe elected
jind <|ualific(| and shall ho so classified that
one of them shall go out of office every two
years.
Sec. s. The present chief justice and associate
justices of the supremo court are declared
to he the chief justice aud two of the j
associate justices of the said court a- herein
established until the terms for which tliev ;
were elected shad expire and the general ,

' third associate justice and make suitable 1

consent of the senate, for each county, who I
shall hold their office* for the term of two

trial justices are declared magistrates as
herein created, and shall exercise the powers
and duties of said office of magistrate
