W ork on County Bridges Progressing Finely County engineer Jeffords reported tl)i.s morning thai the work being done on the bridgei of the county was gci ting along very nicely. The hridg? Cores bus been organised consisting of Foreman J, II. Holland and eight negro workmen, and they are now ai work In the Cow Pens swamp. Five bridges have been repaired and put in lirsl class shape since the organi? sation of the force. The Long Branch bridge on the Statesburg road, a road at Lees mill and three in Kooky BltlfK swamp. It is the idea of the bridge force to replace the two Inch plunks of the bridges with three inch stuff. This will make 'lie bridges strong enough t<> hold the heavy traffic which is now going over those bridges. Itepail work on the roads by the chain gang forces is still being done. One chain gang is doing work in the PilleWOOd section and all reports sa\ that work is progressing smoothly. One gang1 is to be brought to Sumter todaj to work all roads leading out of Sunder. Last night, Charlie Mach eras, pro? prietor of Charlle'e Cafe, showed his spirit and appreciation of the g;od Work done this year by the Sumter High Bchpol football club by having the.entire football squad meet at his eate at eight o'clock where he serve d them, as his guests, a sum* tuous supper. The entire football squad was present with only a very few exceptions and they state that] they do not know when they have on Joyed an affair to such an extern Messrs. John Duffle and Cuttlno Mc Knight were ihe only guests present outside of the Immediate football squad. After supper the squad ndjournej to the Res Theatre where they were fui ? ninhed free tickets to the show. The S. H.
