Dr. W. J. Martin, president of Da?
vidson College, will apeak at the
men's meeting under tho auspices of
the T. M. C. A. at the Rex theatre
Sunday at 4 o'clock.
The SI5 men who attended the
meeting last Sunday will testify that
thenc meetings are very helpful and
certainly a good way to spend an hour
on Sunday afternoon.
Dr. Martin's address will be in?
spiring and helpful and every man
in Sumter will do well to attend.
The people of Dee county have
been hard at work for more than,
two years making preparations far
their first county fair, whloh opens
next week. The fair association pur
chased a large tract of bind in close
proximity to the business part, of the
town and on it laid out the fair
grounds. The grounds have been en?
closed with a substantial fence and
commodious buildings erected. It is
statsd thst the exhibits in all depart*
ments will be large und represented
five of the resources and industries of.
Lee county. The people of Leo coun?
ty have always been liberal patrons
of every public entertainment put on
m ttumter and Sumter should now
reciprocate by attending the JLee
county lair. The fair that Blshopvjlle
has organized and put on will show
what Sumter could have done if the
movement started several years ago
to organize n county fair for Sumter.
