the people of Sumter and surrounding
counties, who gather here on that
day, will hear the first speeches of the
all.summer race. The campaign will
he particularly lnterstlng this year be.

and will bo especially Interesting to
Sumter peoplo because one of Its lead,
lng citizens Is In the race for the
nlghest office In the State.
The meeting will be held at the
court house and the speaking will
probably take place from the court
house porch, as usually the crowd Is
too large to be handled In the court
room. The meeting will probably be
called at 10 o'clock, as there are a
greater number of candidates to
spent; this year than usual and all
of them will want at least twenty mln.

the meeting the candidates will have
to hold their meeting to decide upon
the speaking order in which they shall
come.
Mr. R. I. Manning will not make
a regular address In his home town,
but will make a brief statement to the
voters outlining bis platform and
telling of his candidacy. He will give
over the time allotted him to other
candidates who wish to speak.
Mr. J. H. Clifton, county chairman,
will preside at the meeting and see
that tho candidates are each given a
fair chance. He was out of town
Monday and it was impossible to say
exactly what arrangements had been
made for the speaking, as all of them
were in his charge.
