Although, not ?nttrsly unexpected, the wedding of Mis., Randall and Mr. Bradford, oc? curring just at this time, came as a pleasant surprise to their friends in the City, very few of whom were | ! aware that he marriage was to take place until it was over. John Davis ArOSted at Foreston with Wheel Stolen from II. J. Hicks. John Davis, colored, was arrested! at .Foreston Monday afternoon with a wheel which had been stolen that I morning from Mr. H. J. Hicks at the Southern Express office. Davis took 1 the wherl about S o'clock Monday morning and was sern to ride off on! it, although it was not known at the j time that he had stolen it. Later I when the theft was reported to the police. Osteen. a highly respect? ed citizen of the Privateer section a>nd an ex-Confederate veteran, died at hie home at Privateer Sunday evening about 7 o'clock, after an illness ol several months, during which time he had suffered from heart trouble. He was seventy-four years of ago and leaves a widow and five married chil? dren, three sons and two daughters. The funeral services took place at Bethel church at ::.:{<) Monday after? noon in the presence of a very large audience, who had gathered to pay the last sad tribute Of respect to the remains of departed, showing the high esteem in which he was held In the community. THE FLORENCE DISPENSARY CASE, Judge Fr?ser Revokes Former Order ?^?Heering This Afternoon* The hearing In the Florence dispen? sary matter which was to have come before Justice ft. ler today at noon was postponed at that time on his suggestion to ;',.:;n o'clock this after? noon, an unexpected turn in the case, or at least a turn which neither eoun- j sei for the Prohibition or the dispen? sary side of the argument were ex? pecting. When the court was .called to or? der, Justice Fraser stated that since be had granted his order to Mr. M< - Xeal, he had been considering the matter and had come to the conclu? sion that he had been wrong In grant? ing it at all, for the reason that this was a special election and that no provision had been made In the stat? utes of the State, so far as he could ' find, for the appointing of special managers at a special election and the i act of 11* 12, under which the election was called, did not order the appoint? ment of special managers. The stat utes further ordered that in case a number Of Qualified voters gathered at the polls and there were no mana? gers, they could themselves appoint three managers, one of whom could swear the others. Justice Fraser stated that he might be mistaken in this opinion, but that he had looked the matter up. al though more exhaustive search might. Show him that he was in error. He asked for the views of the attorneys on this point and Mr. MsXeal. the attorney for the prohibition party in Florence County, stated that he had j hoped that this was the law.
