Miss Anna Smith and Mr. J. Frank Powell were married Sunday evening al 7:30 o'clock at the residence of Rev. John P. Wilson on Broad streer. The event was unite a surprise to the many friends of the contracting par? ties. The young couple went out for a usual Sunday evening stroll and while on Proad street eneounb red "Cupid" who induced them to glv? their friends a little surprise. Rev. Wilson was called upon and perform? er the ceremony and the* happy couple returned to the brldeis moth t s residence as man and wffe. The hrlde Is an accomplished mu? sician of this city and has a host of friends. Mr. Powell came to the city about a year ago and up to a short while back was connected with the Hotel Sumter. He is now the efficient end popular manager of the Hotel Belvedere and has a host of friends in the city and throughout South Car? olina. They are now at home to their many friends at the Belvedere. Miss Sadie McCabe and Mr. Silas Mellett. Jr., were married Thursday at 9 o'clock at the residence of Mrs. L. B. DuRant on Washington street by Rev. Maxcy W. Hook pastor of the First Methodist church.
