A young white man was arrested in Greenville on the charge of slash? ing an automobile tire with a knife. i The first services In the new Baptist church at Latta will be held next Sunday. The new building costs about $13,000. Fire at Ellenton destroyed the liv? ery establishment of L. D. Bradham and three residences. Mr. George W, Summer, president of the Mollohon Manufacturing com? pany in Newberry, has Just received a diploma awarding to the Mollohon Manufacturing oompany a silver medal for the best exhibit of per? cales and madras cloth made at the Jamestown Exposition. Prohibition forces of Aiken county are preparing to wage an active cam? paign against the dispensaries. A big mass meeting of the anti-dispensary force* Is to be held at the court house on May 3. About a thousand notices have been mailed to the leaders in the movement in every locality to meet on that date and plan a cam? paign this summer. The dispensary profits for the county of Alken have just been de? clared for the quarter ending March 31st. The county cleared $21,804.83, which Is distributed to the various objects In thirds. The county get? $7,268.27, and the schools of the county a like amount. The cities and towns get the following sums: Alken $3.313.42: Salley $263.90; Wagener $397.83; North Augusta $3,287.14. The invitations to the commence? ment exercises of the graduating class of Winthrop College are now being sent out This is the fourteenth class to graduate from Winthrop College since the college was located at Rock Hill. The class numbers seventy, not quite so large as last year's cla?s. Dr. K. E. Flnley of Trinity church, Co? lumbia, will preach the sermon before the T. W. C. A. Bishop Gallor of Tennessee will preach the baccalau? reate sermon. Dr. George H. Denny, president of Washington and Lee Uni? versity, Lexington, Va., will address the graduating class. The exercises will begin May 30th and continue through June 1st The new St. Andrews Episcopal church In Greenville will be conse? crated next Sunday. Dan Robinson, colored, was hang? ed in Hampton Friday. He killed his wife several months ago. I^awson Addison, colored was hang? ed at Chester Friday for the murder of two negro women. The examinations at the South Carolina Medical College in Charles? ton will be concluded by the end of thin week and next Monday the fac? ulty will meet and make up the marks, with the list of graduates. Rev. W. W. Memmlnger will deliver the baccalaureate sermon at the ser? vices to be held at St. Paul's Epis? copal church next Sunday night. Tho commencement exercises will take place at the Academy of Music on Wednesday night, April 28. when Senator E. D. Smith will deliver the address to the graduates. Where a subscription lias been paid in full, it cannot be di!*continued. The Agent however, may, If he sees proper, transfer the unfulfilled portion of the subscription to another subscriber, provided the person to whom the transfer is to be made was not a subsciber at the time the original name was entered on our books. No name will be counted In completion for a premium until the subscrip? tion price has been paid, nor will ary premium be delivered until the Agent has either paid or made satisfactory settlement for all the names sent in by him or her. In cases of contention by two or more Agents over the right to a name, preference will be given to the one who pays for the name FIRST; but where both pay.we shall not attempt to decide the matter except by crediting the name for one year for each such payment. After a name has been entered on our books, no transfer will be permitted. This is positive and emphatic, and where Agents attempt to make such trans? fers, they must concede our right to take such steps as may saatB necessary to protect the fairness of this provision. The Agent who returns names must pay for them. Any and all Agents will have the right to Get Subscribers Wherever They Can. It Is not necessary that all the names shall go to the same postoince address. All subscriptions must be forwarded to us at the expense of those sending them, and we will be responsible for the safe transmission of money only when it is sent by Draft, Registered Letter, Express or Postofflce Money Order. In sending names, Always give correct name or initials, and present post office address, and if possible say whether the subscribers are NOW taking the paper.
