Beautiful Wedding at Church of Holy Comforter Lust Muht. One of the most beautiful church weddings in Sumter in many years and one of the greatest interest owing to the piominence of the contracting partlea, was the wedding ceremony at the Church of the Holy Comforter last Wednesday, 7 p. m., when Miss Sarah Bernard Manning, daughter of Mr.and Mrs. R. I. Manning, became the wife of Rev. Alfred Reeves Berkeley, of Mayodan, N. C. The church was tastefully decorated with smllax and pot plants and pre? sented a scene of rare beauty. Schu? macher's orchestra rendered sweet music Just previous to the ceremony while the guests and others were as? sembling. Promptly at 7 o'clock tho bridal party entered try? church. The brides? maids entered in pairs and the groomsmen filtered in the same man? ner the couples alternating;. The maid of-honor preceded the bride, who came in on the arm of her father. The sroom and his best man were at the altar and here the groom and bride met. The bridal party stood in the chancel* hs ceremony was performed by the Right Rev. Bishop Cheshire, of the western diocese of North Carolina, assisted by Rev. H. H. Covington, rec? tor of the Church of the Holy Com? forter. The impressive ceremony of the Episcopal church seemed more solemn and beautiful than ever. The bride was given away by her father. Mendelssohn's wedding march was played by the orchestra as the bridal party entered the church. The bride was attired in white satin and palm velvet, with ornaments of pearl. She carried a beautiful bou? quet of white carnations. The brides? maids wore pale cream silk with long trains, said carried bouquets of car? nations. Phone 281 . . t So. Main Street DEATH. Mr. L. T. Norris, of Lumber, died in the Sumter hospital Friday after an illness of about three weeks from typhoid fever. Mr. Norris was a young man, and being cut off in the early years of his life makes his death all the sadder. The remains were taken to his home on the 6:40 train that evening, being escorted by delegations from Lumber und Gamecock Lodge, K. of P. ' The litt e daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Clyde, who was so fceriously burned Wednesday, died that after? noon about 3:30. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde have tho heart felt sympathies cf their friends and acquaintances In this hour lit bereave? ment.
