DEATH AT BISHOP VI LLE.
Miss Gertrude Dlxon Called to Her
Final Reward
Blshopvllle, Oct. 26.?Bishopville
was saddened this morning b> the
death of Miss Gertrude Dlxon,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. R.
Dlxon.
For about six months her health
had been falling, but her friends were
hopeful of a speedy recovery, but In
the last three months symptoms of
Brlght's disease developed together
with a complication of disorders until
It was apparent that the end was very
near.
The community deeply feels her
loss and heartily sympathises with
the stricken parents and with the
family In their great affliction.
She will be laid to her eternal rest
in the cemetery of the Presbyterian
Church tomorrow. Sunday, at 11 a.

spoke on different subjects. Much
interest Is being manifested.

Sublett. Waters, J. B. DuPre and S.

Church Tells of the Good It Did
Him to Go There.
I was out at the Magnolia Street
Church last Sunday, and enjoyed
hearing the teachers hearing their
classes.' for If there Is anything in
this world I do enjoy It Is to see the
teachers take such an interest in try
lng to lead the little ones to a better
home. We are but strangers here,
but If the little ones will only go by
what their teachers tried to teach
them Sunday, Heaven will be their,
home. It did me good to see Brother
Smith singing. He looked like he
was doing his best to make them all
have a good time. Brother Smith Is
one of my dearest friends. I have
time and again when I would reach
my happy little home, say to my
family, "If I was half as good a man
as Brother Smith I would not fear
anything."
I enjoyed the sermon preached by
Rev. S. D. Bailey. I got acquainted
with Rev. Power. He seemed to he
about three score an ten. He was
called on by Rev. Bailey to make a
prayer which I enjoyed very much.
From hU prayer he warned us all
about the better land, which the most
of us needed. I trust God will spare
me to hear him pray once more.
I felt like I was at home, I was
made so welcome by all.
I hope It will be my pleasure to
meet them again some sweet day. If
It Is so I cannot be with them again.
I trust some sweet day. all that heard
me, I trust God will let us meet In a
better world, where we will meet our
loved ones, where we will never have

ENGINEER ROBT. MACK HURT.
Engineer Robt. Mack was painfully
hurt on his engine at Gourdin this
morning by receiving a severe lick cn
his head. It Is not known whether it
was something thrown at the train by
some unknown person but whatever
It was Inflicted a severe wouni and
rendered him unable to pull his en?
gine Into Florence. A man was sent
to relieve him and he came In on the
No. 80 train which was in his charge
and was carried around to his resi?
dence. Dr. Gregg was called In and
dressed his wound. He is not con?
sidered seriously hurt, though he was
suffering a great deal and will be laid
up for several days from the injury.
