There are quite a Bomber of insurance
companies in Sumter. There are eight old
line it fe companies, about fifty fire insurance
companies, six assessment orders, and two
or. taree accident companies There are nine?
teen agencies, fifteen life and four fire, it
would seem from this that the insurance
field here is pretty welt covered.
Recant experiments show that all classes of
foods may be completely digested bj a prepa?
ration called Kodol Dyspepsia Care, which
absolutely digests what yon eat. As it is the
only combination of all the natural digestants
ere? devised the demand for it bas become
enormous. It has never fai?ed to cure the
very wont cases of iadigsstion and it always
givas instant relief.-J S fiughson k Co
'The city is giving everybody another
chance to be vaccinated free of charge The
health officer is making bis roands and vac?

aa expert in this business as be was small?
pox expert for the State Board of Health for
some time, vaccinating aoout 12,000 people.
The school children are being inoculated
every day, and soon they will all be vaccina?

For the weakness and prostration following
grippe there is nothing so prompt and effect?
ive as One Minute Cough Core. This prepa?
ration is highly etdorsed as an unfailing
remedy for ail ?broat and lung troubles and
its early use prevents consomption. It was
made to cure quickly.-J S.Hoghson &*Co.
A trick bicyclist and wheel performer held
an exhibition oo Main street yesterday He
attracted quite a large crowd and executed
many gooo tricks, which weie enjoyed by bi&
spectators. He went around aod took up sev?
eral collections There are a good many euch
riders but be is one of the best.
Reports show a greatly increased death rate
from tbroat and lung troubles, due to the
prevalence of croup, pneumonia and grippe.
We advise the use of One Minute Cough Cure
io all these difS20kies. It is the only harm?
less remedy that gives immediate results.

Tb^re was an alarm of fire yesterday at 12
o'clock. A baroon the premises of Mr. W
j C Hough on Chorch Street was found to be
in flames. From the amoont of smoke, it j
looked as if some largs residence was on fire.
The building waa completely destroyed. Toe
water pressure was exceedingly poor, three
streams only about an inch ia diameter
betne ibrowu, and they could hardly reach
the Simes. If the fire bad been a laree one,
much damage would undoubtedly have been
dore.
A powerful engine cnooot be run with t

of an active life with a weak stomach ; neith?

food to keep the body strong, socb a prepa?

The need of a larger passenger depot here
is more toan ever observable now, daring tbe

it wis bitterly cold, tbe waiting room was
packed and several ladles were standing. A
crowd of men were out on the platform lo
tba cold because tbsy conld not welleome

Sumter should te deplored. The waiting
room here is no larger than those of small
towns aod villages where tbe paseenger travel

Sumter ts a functional point, also, and by
all means should have first-class accommoda?
