POULTRY SHOW.
Splendid Exhibit to Be "Ii:de nt tlie
Pan-American Exposition.
In planning a great Exposition of the
magnitude of the Pan-American, to be
held in Buffalo next summer, where all
the great industries of the United States
will be represented by exhibits which
will be of the best quality and charac?
ter that can be produced, the wisdom
of the management is shown in the
magnificent preparations that are be?
ing made for the Division of Live
Stock.
In no line of breeding domestic ani?
mals has greater strides been made
than in the poultry Industry, and, while
the interest taken in the Live Stock Di?
vision of tbe Exposition by prospective
exhibitors is very encouraging, the
poultrynie.u of the United States and
Canada are manifesting an interest
that is truly phenomenal. Tbe poultry
men in the past few years have seen
the industry double many times until
today it exceeds In value any stogie
farm crop. The annual sale of eggs,
; poultry and fancy birds for breeding
purposes in the United States and Orn?
ada exceeds $1,000,000,000. The pro?
posed show at the Pan-American will
be fully adequate to the great interests
Involved. The time of this show will
be most propitious to the fanciers-Oct
21-31-and the accommodations will be
all that are desired. The stables, cov?
ering ten acres, will all be devoted to
the poultry and pet stock show.
PAN-AMERICAN SPORTS.
Will Be Held In a Stadium Seating
Twelve Thousand People.
The popular sports of the Americans

for the requirements of all the popular
events proposed, Is provided. It has a
seating capacity of 12,000. The nature
of the sports planned is varied. Ama?
teur events of all kinds will be partic?
ularly encouraged as representing the
most desirable of athletic competitions.
There will be professional events as
well. College sports will be made a
feature, and intercollegiate events are
being planned. There will be amateur
and professional baseball, football,
lawn tennis. Marathon race, cross
country runs, lacrosse, cycling, bas?

FUNNY SPECTACLES.
The Impromptu Rows That Occur In
the Streets of Paris.
"Did you ever see a street fight in
France?" asked an artist who had late?
ly returned from Paris. "They are
funny spectacles. I saw one once while
passing the Bal Bullier at midnight
Two little Frenchmen walked along in
front of rae, engaged in conversation.
A third little Frenchman ran up on tip?
toe from behind somewhere and kicked
the taller of the talkers between the
shoulder blades. He went down with
a cry, turned a somersault into the gut?
ter and lay there.
"And instantly-how, I don't know
that street was full of hundreds of lit?
tle Frenchmen, fighting and chattering
and screeching. They didn't use their
fists. They slapped, scratched, pulled
whiskers and hair and, above ail,
kicked-kicked in the high French
manner, not landing where we Ameri?
cans land, but getting home on the
face and neck and on the back be?
tween the shoulders. For five minutes
there was pandemonium, and then as
suddenly as it had begun the brawl
was over and the boulevard was still
again.
"But afterward in all the boulevard
cafes you found torn and bleeding
Frenchmen, who leaned back limply in
their chaire while their little ladyloves
wiped daintily with their skirts the
blood stains from the faces of those
heroic scrappers. The little ladies wept
and murmured sweet consoling things:
the little men seemed In the depth of
despair; but it wasn't long before little
drinks were ordered and little ciga?
rettes lighted and everybody was gay
and happy again." - Philadelphia

When within 25 yards of the finish

cheers dashed by the goal winning
the race by half a wheel. As he pass?
