Militia) returned from Georgetown last
Wednesday morning, haviog left that place
at 6.30 a. m. aod arriviog m this city oo tbe

well fagged out, but in good spirits aod well
pleased with the treatnent accorded them by
tbe members of the Georgetown company aod
tbs good citiaeos of tbat town Tbey were
oot called on for arduous duty, doing noth?

to sleep very little aad (be loss of rest was
beginning to tell oo many of tbs boys.
When tbe company arrived in Georgetown
Monday oigbt tbe situation wss not as serious
as it bad beeo, and tbe riotous negroes were

town was perfectly quiet and tbs negroes,

The affidavits of both sides were submitted
with the replies thereto. Argumeoo wer*>
made by Messrs Jennings and Wilson, who

hour's deliberation decided by a majority
vote ia favor of Mr L R Jennings, and be
was accordingly declared elected. The com?
mittee decided that the legal vole cost in the
election was as follows; Jennings 111,

The contest hinged on the vote cast by a
mas who can neither read nor write. He
swore that be intended to vote for DuBose
and asked Mr. rV H. Epperson to fix the
ballot for bim. Mr. Epperson stated that be
could not swear positively for wbom the vote
was cast, but that he is certain be filed it as
directed by the voter. The committee deeided
that onder the circumstances the vote could

Under this heading tbe Neva and Courier
