B Kennedy died yesterday. Tho little daughter of Mr. J. B White, of Brogdoo'a died Wednesday afternoon after a week's illness. She was about five years old aod an unusually birght and attractive child. The funeral services were held Thursday Mrs Fannie Seymour, widow of the late Lawence Seymour, died at 4 o'clock Thurs? day, Aug. 16, at the home of ber eon, Mr. B. The Summer School for teachers was open? ed at the Grided School building Thursday morning. There were only fifteen teachers present at the opening, but as a large num? ber bad notified County Superintendent Rem bert that they would attend the echool the small eurollment was not as disappointing and discouraging as it would otherwise have been. Tbe attendance was eipected to in? crease. The faculty of the school consists of Mr J. D. Rast, director; Miss Fanny McCants, Miss ? W McLean aod Miss F. L. Saunders Miss McLean teaches primary methods and Miss Saunders teaches drawing. Heretofore there have been, as a rule, ooly two instruc? tors in the summer schools, but this year two additional instructors were engaged to teach primary methods and drawiag and it is boped tbat the tsacbers of the county will deriev tbs greatest possible benefit from the instruc? tion of two specialists in these branches. The Citadel Examination The examination of tbe applicants for the beneficiary scholarship in the Citadel wa3 concluded Thursday afternoon between fonr and five o'clock.
