Mrs A K Prescott, wife of Mr. R. H.
Prescott, of St. Charles, ?Her suffering for 19
weeks passed to her reward the 28th u!t ,

and consecrated member of Wells' Methodist

after an illness of only 15 days of typhoid
fever, aged 17 He was a model youog man

Lamar, 8. C, July 12.?Dr. Jas. Josey of
Cypress, S. 0. died oo tbe evening of the Utb
and was buried at Wesley Obapel today at
five o'clock. Be was one of the most refioed
gentlemen in our coooty. He leaves his
wife and two children, unmarried, about of
age. His dsath was caused by blood poison
from abscess oo bis hand. He was a very
promising physician, and will be greatly

there wai something of a crowd oo band to

unusual commotion.

Tbe business men's committee of 12 met
promptly Monday morning at 9 30 o'clock.
Mr Julian E Harby having been elected
chairman, the entertainment of tbe firemeo
for Wednesday afternoon was at once taken

Tbe committee after discussing tbe question
of tbe proposed banquet aaong themselves
and amoog numerous members of the two.reel
squads, uoaoimously decided to give to tbe
two reel cquade, share and share alike, tbe
money that had been collected for tbe pur?
pose of giving a banquet, it having beeo dis?
covered that this method of testimonial
would be by far the most acceptable to tbe
two reel compactes, who are sorely in need|of
funds with which to purchase the necessary
furniture for their oew aod elegaot quarters.

tions realizs that they have not tbe moral
right to ose this subscribed money for this
oew purpose except by toe consent of tbe
