in violation of tbe law and locked bim up
in a cell In the gnard boose to await trial by
tbe Mayor Monday morning Between 6 and 7
o'clock Satorday evening Henry Mack, ibe
city ball janitor, was io tbe guard house and
tbe prisoner was still iu hie cell. He asked
Mack when bis trial would come off acd was
told not until Monday morning. Tbe piia
oner tben told Mack that he did not have
time to wait for tbe trial end did not propose
to stay io tbe guard house, that he had got
out of tbe prison at Blackwells Island, New
York, aod be guessed be could get out of this
ooe. Mack saw that tbe cell door and the
outer door of tbe guard bouse were securely
locked aod weot off to attend to bis work.
About an boor afterward it was discovered
that tbe prisooer bad filed tbi cell lock,
broken open tbe outside door aod made bis

erty is steadily enhancing in value, fach

worth of new machinery was purchased end

Tbe new machinery has been psid for out of
tbe earnings of tbe mill, and the old debt has
been reduced more than $2,000 within tbe
year.

Moise, M. O Rytteoberg, D. Jas. Wien and
W. A.Bowmao was elected. There was no
chanpe in tbe board except tbe retirement of
Gen. R. W. Moiee, who hes disposed of bis
