Tbe quarto centennial of Rev. C. C.
I'rowu's postorate in S rn.er was ielenrated
in a striking and notable manner by a 6enes

morning and Sunday rooming and evening.
In this celebration the u.siuts of the otb>r
churches of this city paiiicmated cs V7el 1 as

denomination Tho twenty Gve jcarn that
Dr. Bro*n has lived and labored in this city
as pastor of the Baptist Church have been
ma rued by many obftDgft, nnd io no nepect
has there been greater growth than in the
spirit of religious to eration and denomina?
tional friendship atd co-operation iu every
guod work.
Much of this is dne to the personal influ?

popularity ia not confined to his owu congre
gation and whose it fliienee is felt and admit?
ted by men of all denominations and those
who are affiliated wilb no church aod sub?
scribe to no creed. Tbe celebration of bis
quarto centennial, therefore, was not a cele?
bration of and by tbe Btpust congregation
but a celebration by all of Dr. Brown's
frleadi.
The celebration was inaugurated on Friday
evening at tbe Baptist Church. Addresses
were made by Rev J. D Huggins and Rev.
J L Vuss. A large congregation was pres?
ent and the meeting w?s full of interest.
At 10 30 o'clock Saturday morning the
second treeting was held in the Baptist
Church. Short addresses were made bv
nearly all of the visiting ministers and ut 12
o'clock Rev. W. D Rice preached.

Sunday night, Prof Lee Davis Lodge, of

original and thoughtful address on tbe ' In?

The services were all well attended and the
congregations were fuliy repaid, for the
