Bnrkbolder, of Tacocy, Pa, at Holmesnorg, Pa*, on October 18tb, have been received by the friends of tbe bride in this city Mrs Bnrk bolder, as Miss Ada Cooper, was formerly a resident of Snmter az sbe n 3 hosts of friends here, having been deservedly popular by reason of ber amiable disposition and many charms DEATH. Mrs. E. A. Dinkins died on Sunday after noon at ber home oo Liberty street, after a fsw weeks illness, aged 84 years. Uti til sbe received a fall about two weeks ago, breaking her bip, Hrs. Dinkins enjoyed excellent health for one of her advanced age, and was ia foil possession of ber mental facallies Sba was one of the oldest residents of Sum ter, and was a woman of such sterling Chris tian character that throughout a long and useful life she enjoyed the love and esteem of ali who were privileged to know ber. She waa the widow of tbe late Tyre J. Dinkins, who pre-deceased her many years. Three daughters, Mrs. L. E. Stein rae ver, Mrs. W. H. Pate and Miss Ulrica Dinkins, survive her. The funeral services were held at ber late r sidence at 3.30 o'clock Monday a od the in terment wa? made in the family burial ground in the Jordan neighborhood, known as the Pitts burial ground. Died this morning ; Mr. J. R. Ridgill aged about 53 years. The deceased leaves a widow and several children. He was a good citizen and & bard working and an industrious man. -Manning Times, Oct. 18 Hon Joseph M. Skinner, of Barnwell, died last Satnrday in Spartan burg County. Mr. Skinner was formerly of Clarendon, and after bis admission to tbe Bar be practiced bis pro fession in Sumter. He took aa actvie part in politics in 1876 and became involved in a difficulty with a negro leader, Bailer Spears, which resol ted in Skinner shooting him. He thea went to Barnwell wbere be became iden ti ed with tbe people, and won their esteem. They elected him to the legislature three times, and he was regarded a strong member of that body. The deceased was a brother of Captain Richard Skinner of the 5th S. C. Calvary. 'Many of his comrades still live in this and adjoining counties.-Manning Times, Oct. 18. Florence and Darlington have eaot a joint delegation to Portsmouth to consult with the officials of the Seaboard Air Line in reference to the construction of a branch road to con nection Darlington and Florence with the main line of tbe Seaboard system. Darling ton and Florence are alive to the importance of securing a Seaboard couaection and they ere working systematically and intelligently to induce tbe Seaboard officials to pledge themselves to build the desired branch road. The Seaboard will need feeders to carry busi ness to the main line which is beiag buitt through an undeveloped and generally poor country, and it is but a question of time when these branch roads will be built. Under ordinary circumstances Sumter would stand an equal or perhaps better chance of securing a Seaboard connection than Darlington or Florence, bot if Sumter sits down aod waits for the Seaboard to coma of its own volition while c*ber places are working for it and demonstrating in a prac tical and convincing manner that they want the Seaboard to come and will offer s u be tao tial inducements, those enterprising and live places will secure the coveted connection while Sumter will continue to sit down and wait Tbe health restorer and bealth-main taioer, Dr. M A.
