New York, July 27 -Lieut. Hob

offices of the Merritt Chapman

where he was in close consultation
with the officers of the company fur
two hours
At the end of the conference he
said that the contracts for the raising
of the wreck of the Cristobal Colon
were about concluded.
"The contracts, of course, must be
approved by the judge advocate gen?

and will know more about my future
plans after I have seen the officials
there. The air bags with which it is
proposed to raise the ship will pro

company in New York.
"They will measure about six by
15 and will have a capacity of about
13 tons each Pontoons ot the size
required to assisi in raising the ship
will probably be constructed at
once "
Just before leading for Washing?
ton Lieut Hobson, speaking of the
raising of the Colon, said : "The cost
will be about half a million dollars
There are only six pontoons in this
country that ? can get and those ?
have. Four are in this city ; the
ether two belong in Boston To?
gether they have a lifting power of
about 12,000 tons I wanted enough
to have a buoyancy of 25.000 tons,
but I will use rubber bags, which
can be placed in the vessels and then
inflated This will give me addi

enough more pontoons must be
built 99

"For many years I have been a great
sufferer with varicose veins on one of my
limbs. My foot and limb became dread?
fully swollen. When I stood up I could
feel the blood rushing down the veins of
this limb. One day I accidentally hit my
foot against some object and a sore broke
out which continued to spread and was
exceedingly painful. I concluded I
needed a blood purifier and I began taking
Hood's Sarsaparilla. In a short time
those dreadful sores which had caused
me so much suffering, began to heal. I
kept on faithfully with Hood's Sarsapa?

completely healed and the sores gave me
