CITY COUNCIL MEETING.
Transactions of Interest to Tax?

The City Council met in regalar session
last Wednesday evening at 6 o'clock Major
Wilson and Aldermen Hngbson, Purdy,
Flowers, Boyle and Epperson were present
Tbe bills and accoonts on 61e were audited
and approved for payment
Bills to tbe amount of $250, approved by
the Board of Health, were ordered paid.
This males a total of $2 010 paid out on tbe
order of tbe -Board of Health. There may
be a few more small ac no's yat to come io,
but th? amount already raid out and ordered
paid represents the cost of the smallpox out
bre?k.
Tbe Board of Health was directed to make
whatever disposition of tbe property at the'
pest boose, thought best, and the Board was
authorized to employ some one to take care
of tbe pest house and property stored there
for two weeks longer.
The C erk and Treasurer was directed to
borrow $3,000 to p>y the semi annual inter*
est on city bonds and water rent, falling due
on July 1st.
Bids for bnildiog a house for the storage of
fir? department property were opeoed. All
of the bids-twelve to number were rejected,
and tbe bonse will be built by street hands
under the direction, of the police committee
Mayor Wil on, Alderman Hugbson and
City Attorney Fraser were appointed a co ca?
rrin e to confer with the parties to the license
tax case now io litigation. The parties to
tbe snit have made overtures to the Council
to compromise tbe case and withdraw the
suit, and the committee will confer with
them and hear what tbey have to propose as
a basis of the compromise. The proposition
will be submitted witb recommendation by
the committee at tb* next meeting of Council.
