Tbe platform is doubtless a very good thiog, and i3 aa indication of progress, perhaps, but the Master and Sheriff have managed to conduct all public sales from tbe Court House steps for almost ooe ; hundred years aod they could have continued doing 60 for another hundred years without great hardship. Tbe platform will furnish a most 'comfortable and convenient resting place foi theindoatrious gaag of loafers who spend their time on the streets. If tbecoooty officials and other prospective candidates will dob together aod famish the platform with easy chairs and hammocks it will become at once the most popolar place in tbe city for loafers.
