Violent Deaths
Last Thursday night Mr. Millberry Mose?
ley, brother of Mr. Redie Moseley, was going
borne from town. As be neared h's borne
near Mt. Zion Baptist Church about 8 miles
east of Camden, the mules be ?tas driving
ran away and threw him ont of the wagon.
He fell on his bead breaking bis neck, from
which be instantly died. Tbe funeral took
place tbe ooxt day at Mt. Z on Church.
Mr. Frank Brown who lived not far from
tbe neighborhood in which Ur. Moseley lived
met a similar death tbe following day. Be
also was riding in a wagoo and tbe team ran
away throwing bim out on his bead and
breakiog his neck. Mr. Alexand-r Johnson
waa tn tbe wagon with bim and wits badly

On Saturday night the gin bouse of Mr.
W. G. Wells was burned to the ground, and,
with it all its contents, was a total loss.

A Number of Buildings Burned,

MAYBSVILLS, S. C , Jen 3-Fire broke out
at 3 o'clock tbis morai*.? in tbe shop of
Charlie Wesley, the shoemaker and sooo
spread to the ac juting buildings. The
alarm was given at once and the male popu?
lation turned out immediately to fight the
flames. Tbe contents of the store? and build
ingsin danger ?ere removed to places of
safety as rapidly as possible and every effort
was made to confine the fire to a small area.
By the hardest sort ot work the depot And
cotton sheds were saved, but the stores and
bouses in ciobe vicinity to the shop in wbicb
tbe fire originated were burred to the 2roond
as nothing could be done to check the pro?
gress of tbe flames; The fire burned itself
ont about 6 o'clock.

$2, 5C0 and $3,000 ; the amount of insurance
cannot be ascertained at this boor.

Paul Stockton by J. W. Harrison. Tbe kill?
