of wine after dinner, or in a card, or
in a dance in the parlor, or in an inno?

toast object to them all.
~ First? because if all the people in
our country would abstain from these
four amusements, nobody would be
hurt.
Secondly, their tendency is bad. I
Speak not of a glass of wine, but of the
wine-glass aa a social habit. I
speak not of the cards themselves, as
an innocent amusement ; I speak of
fite card-table. I speak not of a daucc
ina parlor, ander favorable circum?
stances ; I speak of thc dance on the

whole, it cannot be denied, their ten?
