The fire spread with such startling rapidity that the ladies working io the ^wper part of the building were cat off %o? the stairs, and their only way of g3?eapewaa by jumping from the win* .?osra. Two were barned to death, one waa crushed in leaping from the win* dows, a foorth received injuries so se? vere as to canse death io a few hoars, while mother had her legs so badly crashed as to necessitate amputation, and she is b a most criticle condition. Also a . letter from citizens of Washington, inviting delegations to he their guests. Several letters were received from survivors, regretting inability to attend this meeting.
