You are required by law in the )aragraph cited above to deliver these nstructions to the coroner and to iach magistrate in your couhty. In the paragraph cited above the specimens of portions of the human )cdy in cases of suspected poisoning nust be sent by the coroner or other serson acting as coroner. It is, there?ore, very desirable that the physi:ians in your county should be made acquainted with the instructions endosed herewith, inasmuch as we are :ot allowed to do any work for pay n this Laboratory, and, of course, we :an not make chemical analyses free >f charge in cases of suspected poisoning of human beings when the specimens are not sent to us in accordance with the law of the state requiring such analyses to be made at this s :ollege. I may say for your information that it is rather the rule than the exception for physicians to send specimens, and we find it necessary to obtain the authorization of the coroner before we can make the desired analysis. The portion, or portions of the human body selected by the physician ir charge should be placed in a perfectly clean glass jar, orjars, which :an be sealed without the specimen :oming in sontact with any metal. Hie jar, or jars, must then be carefully packed in a wooden box with ixcelsior, or other good packing maerial, so as to insure transportation vithout breakage of the jar, or jars.
