Club News
There will be an important meeting
at the Demonstration office on Monday,
May 16th, at 3:30 p. m. for the
purpose of organizing a woman's advisory
council. I hope that the officer
of each ladies demonstration club
can be present as well as others from
other communities where there are no
demonstration clubs. Mrs. Frances Y.
Kline, District Agent will be here to
talk to us at- this meeting and I am
sure that she will have an important
message or all.
There will be a health meeting at
Greelyville, Wednesday night and a
Better Baby day on Thursday.

Corrects Wrong Impression.

Please allow me space in your valued
paper to correct an impression
made in our recent suit in the Court
of Common Pleas. The Farmers and
Merchants Bank of Lake City vs. L.
P. Sauls, jC. E. Rodgerg and myself,
in which Mr. W. M. Severance former
cashier of Bank of Lake City made a
statement that Mr. A. C. Hinds had on
one occassion accompanied me to Lake
City in the interest of said case. In
denying same will ask that you publish
the enclosed statement of Mr.
Hinds' and oblige.

4.?We have not tried to make anybody believe that we can write
B insurance CHEAPER than any other agent, for such an effort
would be one of deception, and we do not care to get business
on such representations. _It would not stand if we secured
it, for our patrons would sooner or later lose confidence in us.
| The fact.of the business is that all of us agents have tp folj
low the same regulations and rates. As to the Town of Kingstree
a special man is sent here occassionally to rate the town.
The rates of every building and its contents are published, in a
book and each agent is furnished one of these "Kingstree
Tariffs" as they are called, and he is instructed to use the
rates published therein.
Sometimes errors are made in publishing
these rates. A rate may be too high. In
such cases when an error comes to the attention
of some one of us agents, it is gladly
reported to the head office in Columbia, and

(corrected. Whichever agent detects tne
error first usually reports it to the corresponding
agent of our town, and has the rate
corrected. When it is corrected every
agent in Kingstree uses that rate if lie happens
to have insurance on that property.
The "Guide" a book of insurance rates
and regulations, is useti by all agents in
making up rates on property outside of the
town of Kingstree. The rates for Knigstree
are made from the same book. But
the rate on each risk here is published for
the agents, while in the country they have
to make up the rates themselves from this

A Word of Advice to the Property
Owner,
and we are through. Whenever you are
contemplating a change of occupancy in
your dwelling or mercantile building, be
sure to see your agent before making such
change and ascertain just how much the
change of occupancy will effect your insur ance
rates. It may save you money. Furthermore
the change of occupancy often
vitiates your policy, unless you have it endorsed
so as to permit the occupancy con-v
templated. By change of occupancy your
insurance rate? is often lowered or raised,
and for this reason, if for no other, it is a

wise policy always#to know tnese racxs.

along this line, or about anything else about
