Sheriff H. S. Gamble moved his I
family to Kingstiee from Greelyville ?
Monday. They are very comfortably
situated in the residential section of
the jail building. The sheriff was relieved
of a lot of annoyance incident
to such a move, by his friends, who
sent teams and plenty of labor to
expedite the work.
Mr. J. V. Carter of the Carter Electric
Service Co., Lake City, was, in
Kingstree Monday oi^J^iness. He
had with him Mr. \vau&e Winston.
Mr. Carter's Company has just completed
the installation of a lighting
plant and water system on Mr. W.

Hold Band Election.
At a meeting of the Town Council
Monday night, it was found that the
petitions circulated in the interest of
public improvemets to be financed
through a bond issue, had been signed
by more than the two-thirds of the
white free-holders, necessary for the
calling of an election. It was decided
to hold the special election on the
question of a bond issue, March 29th,
1921.
The registration book for voters in
the corporate limit of Kingstree is
now open and yrill remain open until
^ March 18th inclusive, at the store of
* the Kingstree Hardware Co.

Death of Mrs. Alford.
Mrs. Margaret Alford, widow of the A
ite McPherson Alford, died in Max>n,
N. C., Wednesday, March 9th, ^
nd was buried there toda^ beside the
rave of her husband who died nine
ears ago.
Mrs. Alford was bom in Kingstree,
lecember 2"th. 1869, daughter of the 2
ite Dr. John F. and Elizabeth Scott ^
rockington, and was married June f,
5th, 1895. Surviving her is Miss ii
Ilizabeth Alfard her only child, and ^
iree sisters, Mrs. D. C. Scott, of
angstree, Mrs. C. K. Davis, of Mar- _
>n and Miss Italine Brockington of
Jngstree. She was a sister of the
ite Joseph E. and John Arthur Brock- a
lgton, of Kingstree. * ^
Mrs 'Alford had a large number of
jlatives and friends in Kingstree,
hich was her home until she mar- ^
ied. She was a woman of exception- _
I mental strength and of beautiful
hristain character. All of her life
