Meyer, director of a the X-ray department of the New k fork Post-Graduate Medical school J and Hospital, has announced a method ? )f determining correct dosage of the a administration of X-ray treatment t A'hich apparently makes almost cer- c tain cures in cases of superficial can- c XT. j Fifty such cases, it is stated, have l>een cured by this method in four I pears, with no signs of recurrence, j rhe importance of the discovery is in the fact it standardizes X-ray treatment of cancer and makes it possible for the physician to know exactly j what results will follow a given course 11 if treatment in a given case. It is ] emphasized, however, that the find- ( ings are only on superficial cancer. ^ What Constitutes Soundness in Horses j As to what constitutes soundness in i horse or other animal I find in an '* English case such a clear definition | that I insert it: "I have always con- | sidered that a man who buys a horse j warranted sound must be taken as j iuying him for immediate use, and j las a right to expect one capable of hat use, and of being immediately jut to any fair work the owner hooses. I In another English case, where a 1 horse sold with a warranty of sound- j aess had an unusual convexity in tfie corner of the eye (roundness of the horny, transparent membranes in the forepart of the eye through which the rays of light pass) which caused shortsightedness and a habit of shying, the judge instructed the jury that, "If they thought the habit of shying arose from defectiveness of vision, caused by natural malformation of the eye, this was unsoundness."
