No. 37 of said County and State, will

eight o'clock in the forenoon and closed
at four o'clock in the afternoon; that
at said election only qualified electors
who return real or personal property
for taxation and who exhibit tax receipts
and registration certificates as
required in general elections shall be
allowed to vote, and each elector favoring
the proposed levy shall cast a
ballot containing the word "YES"

A Thought For the Week
No one has a right to waste money
no matter how plentiful it may be.
When a man indulges himself in ev-1
erything his heart desires because
money is plentiful, he is cultivating
a habit of extravagance which will
be very hard to cure. Cheap money
is not going to last always and every
one who handles money should have I
an eye to the future. If men whos^j
incomes are beyond the needs of an
economical support \Vill invest their
money now while it is cheap, their investments
will be worth twice as I
much when money appreciates. For i
that reason we believe that every man
who can save a dollar now should do
so. A thousand dollars saved now
will likely be worth two thousand ten
years from now. There are always
stocks on the market which are safeij
investments. Indeed, much preferred
stocks guarantee a certain per cent in
the way of dividends and th v are so
safeguarded as to make the money
secure. This is the best time we have
ever known for young men to get a
start in life and they, especially^hould
take advantage of conditions rather
than lose this day of opportunity by

The Dog Tax Law.
The new dog tax law will not be
effective until January 21,* 1921, and
the penalty on failure to pay the tax
until January 1, 1922, according to an
opinion rendered last week by Morris
C. Lurakin, assistant attorney general.
The dog tax law was passed by the
General Assembly after a hard fight.
It provides a tax of $1.25 on every
dog in the State in lieu of other State
and county taxes, to be paid to the j
county treasurer, who is to furnish a j
tag showing the license is paid. Each [
dog is required to wear a collar to'
which the tag must be attached, ex- J
cept when the dog is on a hunt. The j
act provides a minimum fine of $5|
and a maximum of $20 for failure to ,
comply with the law. one-half to go i
to the informer and the other half to |
go to the school fund.
The opinion of the assistant attor- j
ncy general construes the law to mean ;
that the $1.25 tax is in lieu of all j
other taxes except the State capitation
tax of fifty cents.

Please allow me tb publish in your
valuable paper something of the first
quarterly session of this progressing
order of colored farmers aid, which
convened with R<5ck Hill Lodge No.
11, at Rock Hill Baptist church, Salters,
S. C., on March 27th, 1920, with
J. H. Hamlet, G. M., presiding.
At 10:30 all of the grand officers
had*filled their seats and reported.
The reports of lodges was called for
by the delegates and each lodge was
reported in good shape but two. One
claimed to have not gotten the communication
and the other did not get
an understanding. The reports in
general showed an increase in membership
and three more grand officers
were elected. All claims, including
one death claim, was paid and a fine
sum laid away in the grand treasury
for the quarter. Some fine resolutions
also were passed, which will
