house board was introduced at th
recent session of the General Assem
bly at the request of the South Caro
lina Division of the American Cottoi
Association. The object and purpos
of the board is the protection for th
interest of the producers of cottoi
and ecomonic regulation of the sup
ply to the demand, so that the produ
cers shall at no time be forced to sel
their product except at a fair profit
as well as the general supervisioi
of the State warehouse and their agen
cies created by law touching the pro
duction, warehousing, grading am
marketing of cotton.
Any person, firm, corporation or in
dividual who desire to engage in th
export cotton trade may, upon appli
cation, receive a license from the Stat
warehouse board, which is authorizei
and directed to use the name am
