SUNDAY SCHOOL CONVENTION |
Williamsburg County Association To
Mt>et at Indiantown Church
On Sunday, November 23, the annual
Sunday School Convention of
Williamsburg County will be held at
Indian town Presbyterian church.
Morning and afternoon sessions will
be held ,\nd at the noon hour dinner
will be served on the grounds.
Mr. R. D. Webb and Miss Cora
Holland, representatives of the State
Sunday School Association expect to
be present and assist in the program.
To this convention are invited all
members of the Sunday Schools and
those interested in Sunday School
work. It is hoped that each school
will elect delegates to represent them

Cross Seal Campaign
Taking a deep personal interest in
the cam;>aign to cut the tuberculosis
death ra;;e in the South, eight governors
of as many Southern States are
to be c*!!ed into conference at Chat
tanooga, Tennessee on tne s?ui w?
this month with tuberculosis experts
from the National Tuberculosis Association
The conference will endorse
the Red Cross Christmas Seal Campaign
and advocate the purchase of
seals as a big factor in the death of
the white plague.
Governor Robt. A. Cooper, of this
State, is one of the eight executives
to have the distinction of being the
first in history of the organized fight
on tuberirulosis to take such official
action. While the Governor will be un-1
ble to bo present at the conference
his views will be known there. He
wrote Governor A. H. Roberts of Tennessee,
to the effect that he will not
be able to leave the State on that
date. The other executives who will
combine their efforts to protect the
people from tuberculosis are from
Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, Louisana
Kentucky and Mississippi.
All available data, based upon the
findings of the country's greatest experts,
will be placed before the governors
for their consideration. That
the annual death toll due to tuberculosis
is 150,000 a year in this country
and that the active cases today number
1,000,000 are two facts that stare
the executives in the face.
Plans to assure the success of the
seal sale will be decided upon. More
than 650,000.000 are to be sold if the
1920 educational and preventative
program of the various organizations
allied to carry on the fight are to go
ahead. Of that number South Carolina's
quota is 6,500,000 netting a
sum of $55,000.
